Rika is NOT an AI tool to solve math problems. Rika is a math coach that builds your child’s mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills by working beside them. Rika observes their problem-solving approach, guides them if they are stuck, and assists them in fixing their own mistakes as they power through their math assignments. Rika also manages math assignments: it keeps track of all assignments, new, in progress, and completed. Through Rika, students can generate a digital version of their handwritten work showing how they worked through a problem, in their own handwriting.

Your child writes with the Apple Pencil. Rika reads each stroke as it happens, recognizing equations, noticing when they pause, when they erase, when they restart. Like a tutor sitting next to them, except always available.

Rika asks a question, like “What if you isolated x first?”, or offers a helpful hint, and waits. It never gives the answer. The thinking stays with your child.

Rika walks them back to the prerequisite. If they’re stuck on solving 2x + 5 = 13 because they’re shaky on negative numbers, Rika pauses, offers a short practice on negative numbers, then returns them to where they were.

No. By design, your child writes every step in their own handwriting. There’s no copy-paste, no show-me-the-answer button, no shortcut. The work has to be done.
