Why Rika exists.

Rika started at a kitchen table.

A parent trying to help with math homework. A child losing confidence by the minute. Apps that gave away the answer or turned learning into a game show. Nothing that sat beside a child, watched their thinking, and asked the right question at the right moment. So we built it.

What we believe

Homework should produce understanding, not just completion.
A worksheet that gets turned in but isn’t understood is debt, and the debt compounds.
Handwriting is thinking.
When a child works a problem by hand, they engage parts of their brain that taps and clicks never reach. In Rika, the only way to make progress is to write every step.
The right question beats every answer.
A child handed an answer learns to receive. A child asked the right question learns to think. Rika never gives away the answer.
The gap is usually older than this year.
Almost always, the real problem is a skill from years earlier that’s been quietly compounding. Rika finds it and rebuilds from there.
A parent who can see their child’s thinking can advocate for them.
Most schools give you a number. Rika gives you a portrait, and a way to talk to your child’s teacher with specifics.

A note from the founder

I built Rika because I watched my own kid stare at a math worksheet and quietly give up. I tried every app on the App Store. They either gave away the answer or felt like a slot machine of badges. Nothing watched my kid’s actual thinking, and nothing required them to do the actual work.

Rika is the tool I wished existed at 8pm on a Tuesday. If you’re reading this, I think you’ll know exactly what I mean.
